Strengthening community within community.

On our way from France to Hungary, we made a short stopover in Slovenia. I wanted to see the farm of Tilen, experience his way of management the 14 ha – which is already considered “a bigger farm” in Slovenia. I had seen his maps in our Holistic Management course but seeing his land and practice and thoughts in real life, it is something completely different. We were welcomed with home grown foods and a wonderful insight into the local ecosystem, economics and social webs that makes every farm context so specific.

Funny enough, on the photo, that’s not Tilen.

That’s Klara and Miha from @kmetija_zelenipasnik who just randomly invited us to stop by if we’re ever in Slovenia.

So, we did.

Walking the land, chatting about observations and future resources, about managing flock and water. Enjoying a grounded delicious meal together.

How can we re-connect? How can we find community within community?

It’s not about building another (online) network. It’s about being where we are.

Where you are.

Repost from @kmetija_zelenipasnik :
Today we had a special visit. Leon Bucher is head of the German hub. Holistic management mentor, facilitator, with more than 10 years of experience.

We chatted, socialized over good food and walked around our pastures.

We are grateful for all the people we have met along the way and who encourage us not to stay in our own bubble. Leon and his wife did exactly that for us today. They helped put some things back into perspective. With their questions, they made us think about relationships, the future, and about the land we are working with.

On Friday, Leon is leading a workshop on ecological monitoring in Hungary, where a car from Slovenia is also going…also Miha (there is still space if anyone wants to join!). The next project is comin in the fall…a big one. An interesting one. For all. But this is still a secret.

Richard Perkins showed us a new world with regenerative farming. With Allan Savory, John Kempf, Greg Judy, Helen Anthowe and many others, a new world of caring for nature, successful farming and quality of life with family and friends has opened up for us!
